We cannot thank Eleanor enough for offering her time, expertise, and enthusiasm to our State Farm Design Thinking lunch and learn panel.
Her contributions were not only stunningly fecund, but timely, and much needed.
Eleanor showed up so fully, and told us how she bravely leverages vulnerability, humor, and fun to create space for difficult conversations and realizations for her students and clients. We'll be working hard this year to internalize and embody her advice to let go of judgment when we meet folks in difficult moments or spaces.
I am delighted to enthusiastically commend Eleanor Lumsden as a diversity, equity and inclusion coach for our law faculty team.
Our teaching group of twelve experienced lawyers teach twenty law classes in negotiation and dispute resolution. These classes constitute a significant part of the experiential learning curriculum. We were seeking coaching on creating a more inclusive classroom. Eleanor designed a three 2-hour session workshop that included reading and video preparation to set up a series of discussions. We began with launching a first class to build a trustworthy environment and teacher-student relationship. The core of our learning was based on classroom hypotheticals, both posed by Eleanor and generated by the participants.
Eleanor created a constructive learning atmosphere for us and modeled ways to communicate and engage with a range of diverse students in our classes. Most importantly, she guided us on how to build a foundation that would enable us to foster discussion and handle difficult moments. We would absolutely call on Eleanor again and highly recommend her services.
The following institutions have all prioritized diversity, equity, and inclusion. ELC is honored and pleased to support their work in the world.
